I have been looking at alternative 'fuels' for the last couple of years now.
And with us staring R15 / lt soon, I again on this hunt.
At one point i was looking at biodiesel and also LGP gas... which i went with in the end.
Problem with lpg is that is was hybrid vehicle running fuel and LPG, and there is only one LPG fillup station in CT mon - fri 8 - 5... so you can imagine how frustrating this was... plus capital layout of R6000 .. ah well
Biodiesel, was good option... but the horror stories of engines seizing up etc.. also the availability of WVO was becoming a problem in CT. All restaurants / fast food outlets i approached had contract with their oil supplier to buy back the oil.
EV was the best choice but the availability of motors, batteries etc just put me off...
I'm glad to see there are other in SA that has done it...
Would someone be able to give and estimated cost that a ev conversion would be... considering the nissan leave comes in at R446K, well, that is alot of drving back and fro to work i have to do to to make up that kind of cash.
