Hi,

There isn't really a section for this topic but here goes:

My father and I started a kit car project in 2007 http://bodgerbuild.blogspot.com/. We bought most of what was needed to complete the project from www.locostsa.co.za and got stuck in.

In the winter of 2008 I got married and I took up mountain biking in 2009. So the project has stood still, besides a brief bit of work I did in 2010. We based the project on a Toyota 1.6 20v engine, ford sierra Gearbox and diff (more info can be found on my build blog).

At the end of 2012 my dad had a solar array (not sure if this is the right term) from http://www.mltdrives.com/ installed and now mostly runs his home on solar power. Phase 2 of his plan is to get a wind turbine from http://www.kestrelwind.co.za/ to supply more power in the winter months when solar is not as effective.

The next obvious step is to have an EV but there are none to be bought in ZA. We do have this semi complete project in the garage that forgoes many of the issues a normal EV conversion faces such as no need for power brakes/steering.

So that is my story, we would love some pointers as to how to go about getting our Locost running as an EV and a sporty EV at that.

So far I've found:
http://www.yasamotors.com/ that worked with westfield to make the iRacer. It doesn't look like they sell to the public but maybe in the future (Locost EV MKII :D)

http://www.thorr.eu/content/view/12/26/ Seems to be quite an old 2008 project I can't find any current info on this.
