How to make the springs for the switches:

Put together a spring-making-tool:

Use 12 mm square tubing, a M4 bolt and nut and a 6mm (diameter) nail.

Drill a 6mm hole for the nail and fit the M4 bolt and nut as shown.

For the main spring use 22 SWG and for the side springs use 19 SWG normal spring wire, available from STARCO Spring and Wire works. ([email protected])

Wire Length:

Main Spring – 600mm

Side Springs – 500mm

Clamp the spring wire in a vise as shown

Insert the horizontal arm of the spring tool as shown and turn clockwise until the full length of the wire is used.

Stretch the spring as shown.

Completed spring ready to be inserted into the electromechanical switch assembly.
