DC Motor / Hub motors for an old fibreglass kit car
October 17, 2019, 11:51:04 AM
Hi all,
I have an old porsche speedster kit car that would suit an ev conversion. Its a beetle chassis.
Ive been looking at these hub motor conversion kits from a company called QS motors.
The price as follows,

2 units x QS260 3000W 72V V3 Electric Car Hub Motor : USD335/PC
2 units x Kelly Controller KLS7230H with Regenerative Braking: USD220/PC
1 unit x Doul Controller Assembly: USD180
1 unit x Pedal Throttle: USD50
1 unit x Control Box: USD15
1 unit x USB Cable: Free
1 unit x Speedometer X8-E: USD85
The shipping cost to South Africa by TNT: USD430
Total: USD1870

Im wondering if going the 10kw forklift motor route might be cheaper though. Any ideas on average price of a used motor?
As Im strapped for cash Im wondering also what the smallest battery bank I could get away with would be. Most of my destinations are around 10-12km as a round trip.
Thanks, Nick
